Obi-wan Kenobi
Obi-wan Kenobi taught young Anakin Skywalker the ways of the force. He was the Jedi knight and Anakin was his Padawan. A promise he made to his dying master Qui- Gon Jinn.
As a young reckless, confident man, he and Anakin went through many adventures fighting side by side with each other. Yet he was unable to see Anakin's weakness or to correct him before it was too late.
When he saw through hologram projections, Anakin, his padawan killing younglings in the Jedi Temple, and kneeling before the Sith Lord, Lord Sidius, Chancellor Palpatine, he was horrified. He took responsibility for Anakin's fall.
He was the one to confront Anakin about this and ended up in a light saber battle that destroyed Anakin's body.
Then when Padme died, he brought Luke Skywalker back to his family home in Tatooine to be raised by Anakin's relatives. As Old Ben Kenobi, he lived in seclusion in Tatooine, while keeping an eye from afar, on Luke.
When the time came, in episode 4 of Star Wars, Obi-wan taught Luke the ways of the Jedi, yet this time around, he felt he was not good enough to complete Luke's training. He had failed terribly with Luke's father. He did not want to take the risk. He sent Luke to Jedi Master Yoda to complete his training.
