Actually, even women with pierced ears are better off wearing clip earrings when the earrings in question are heavy. They are a smarter option than hooked earrings for pierced ears from which heavy pendants or ornaments dangle. This is because the piercing can be stretched. Instead of a tiny hole, you end up with a long ugly slit.

No doubt, with time, the hole might close again, infections can heal (unless you're talking about HIV or Hepatitis) and you can recover from allergies, but with clip on earrings, you eliminate the risk altogether.
With clip on earrings, the earrings are support by the clip and back of the earring pressing against the ear. No permanent damage is sustained. You can wear clip hoop earrings instead of the hoops that pierced through the ears, or diamond clip earrings instead of the earrings with posts that go through the ear lobe. Whatever design you like, you should be able to find it in clip form as well.
Disadvantages Of Clip On Earrings
As for the disadvantages of clip earrings, the only one I know of is that they hurt. Okay, you can wear those that are padded but a friend of mine who wears them says that after a few hours, her ears feel tired and her ear lobes hurt. I used to wear them a long time ago before I had my ears pierced and I hated the way they clip on so tightly to the ears they hurt. Some people find them comfortable though, so to each, her own.
