How do you choose clothes for plus size women?Plus size women come in all shapes and sizes you could be above 6 feet tall and wear plus sizes or just below 5 feet and wear the same size. At 6 feet tall, you could be plus size and skinny. At 5 feet, you are probably very curvy.
The key is to dress for your real figure type. Not for the number on the label.
Thankfully, plus size womens apparel come in all sorts of cuts. Different designers or brands may have a different type of female figure as their ideal customer. For some labels that love size zeros, plus size is just a larger version of the regular size. These would fit a slim 1.8 m tall, thin woman with the same proportions of a thin petite woman. A plus size woman of regular height may find the clothes that fit her hips and bust much too long for her. The proportions are likely to be all wrong and the clothes wouldn't flatter them as well as they should. Don't throw that outfit out though. If you love it that much, get a size that fits your largest measurement and bring the outfit to a tailor to make the necessary alterations so the outfit would fit and flatter you beautifully..
For other labels, typically those specially made for plus size women, the outfits are proportionately wider with more emphasis on the curves. A plus size woman of regular height is typically curvier than her thin sisters, and these labels design their clothes for such women. A woman who has to wear plus sizes because of her height would find clothes from such brands too short, Unless she is curvy, the clothes may not flatter her either.
How do you know what to get?
Check out the measurements for the labels. Compare them with your own measurements. Take a measuring tape and measure yourself honestly. No cheating. Then write down the measurements on a piece of paper. When you shop online, compare your measurements with the sizing charts to see how well these may fit. You can't expect every measurement to fit you perfectly. Go for the size that fits your largest measurement. If you happen to find a label with a size that matches your measurements perfectly, that is your dream label or brand where fit is concerned. Get whatever you can from there.
